Update: Father Dies After Fall in Front of his Son
Investigators say a 10-year-old boy helped keep his father alive more than a week after the man slipped at their Lincoln home. On Sunday, the man died at the hospital.
Juvenile Court records identified the father as Bienvenu Asumani, 45.
On Friday, the boy answered the door when Lincoln Police Officer Cynthia Koenig-Warnke went to their home Friday.
The boy's school principal, Jeff Ross of Hartley Elementary, had called police after not seeing the boy at school for four days.
The boy said his father had fallen on a wet floor more than a week before, striking his head. The boy says he gave his father fluids and nutritional items, but had not moved or used the restroom the entire time.
A court affidavit says the man's eyes were open and he was breathing but couldn't answer questions from the investigator.
In a court affidavit, the child said his mother lives in Africa and that he has relatives in Arizona.
A judge has put the boy in the state's care.
