Borgeson To Again Serve As County Board Chair

Two women were chosen Tuesday (Jan. 8) to lead the Douglas County Board of Commissioners during the coming year.

Douglas County Commissioner Mary Ann Borgeson, District 6, was voted unanimously by acclamation to serve as Chair of the Douglas County Board, while Commissioner Pam Tusa, District 2, was elected Vice Chair by their fellow Commissioners.

Commissioner Borgeson was first elected to the Douglas County Board in 1994. This is her seventh term as board chair.

Commissioner Tusa joined the County Board in 2006 and is serving her second term as a Commissioner.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners annually elects a new chair and vice chair during the first meeting of the year.

The Board of Commissioners is an elected body that administers the laws passed by the Nebraska Legislature. Its seven members are elected by district to four-year terms.

Their responsibilities include overseeing criminal justice, health and human services and general county operations.
