The City of Omaha Parks and Recreation Department has announced its “Top Ten Things to Register For” in the month of April.

Tiny Toes to Soccer Pros
Every Wednesday from 10:45 a.m. – 11:25 a.m. at A.V. Sorenson Community Center. Cost is $35 per month or $50 for 8 weeks. Register today at or contact for more information.

Hummel Park Day Camp
This week long camp (Monday thru Friday) is an outdoor recreation and education program for youth who have completed 1st through 7th grade in 2013. Camps are held each week from June 3rd through August 9th (no camp the week of July 1-5th). Cost is $95. Registration starts April 13th. Learn to Swim
Register for summer Learn to Swim sessions being held at nine outdoor pools from June 17th - June 28th and July 8th –July 19th. Classes are held Monday thru Thursday for two weeks. Cost is $50 per child, per session. Registration starts April 13th at Camelot, Common Ground, Mockingbird Hills and Montclair Community Centers.

Kellom Basketball League
Register for these summer boys basketball leagues played in the evenings at A.V. Sorensen and Common Ground Community Centers beginning June 10th. Divisions are available for 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, and High School. The cost of this eight week league is $200 if registered before May 1st and $275 if registered between May 2nd- 17th. Contact A.V. Sorensen at 402-444-5596 for more information.

Hershey’s Track & Field Games
Register for this track and field event for novice young athletes, ages 9-14. This local competition will be held at Westside Middle School on April 27th starting at 9:00 a.m. Athletes placing first in the local competition advance to the statewide competition held in Grand Island, Nebraska on June 8th. Summer Adult Basketball & Volleyball
On April 15th early online registration will open for City Wide Sports Adult Basketball & Volleyball. Regular registration starts on April 22 and ends May 10 at 5:00 p.m. Cost for a basketball team is $355 and a volleyball team is $210. League season starts May 19th.

Special Events for Summer
Register for the Push Luau, Summer Picnic, Water Exercise or Low Impact Fitness classes offered by Parks Department Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services. Contact Martie Conkling at 402-444-6103 for more information.

Youth Learn to Play Tennis
Register for youth 1-2-3 Learn to Play Tennis. Beginner, Advanced Beginner and Intermediate classes are offered for ages 4-8, and 9 and older. Classes are usually held in the morning, once a week for 10 weeks. Registrations are accepted at Koch Tennis Center. Contact Koch Tennis Center at 402-493-0420 for more information.

Ladies Golf League
“Friday Swingers” Golf League at Elmwood Park begins April 26 at 8:00 a.m. and ends September 20 (22 weeks). Currently there are approximately 80 women in the league at all stages of expertise. League cost is $20. Contact Lucy Burrell at 402-453-7306 for more information.

Summer Fitness Special
Special Summer Memberships for High School and College Students can be purchased at Common Ground Community Center starting April 13th. These reduced rate memberships are perfect for High School and College Students that are home for the Summer. Memberships are valid from May 13th to August 16th. Cost is $33 plus tax for High School Students and $83 plus tax for College Students. Contact Common Ground Community Center at 402-289-0451 for more information.
