It's a Web site that sounds like it might be about baby talk, Bookoo.com. More specifically, Bellevue.Bookoo.com.
It’s a national Web site, aimed at helping people buy and sell things with a hyper-local connection.
By the looks of things at Melvyn Kalili's Bellevue home, someone could have found a typical garage sale that was going on for a typical reason. "The goal for this sale is to get rid of all this stuff so I can have my man cave, that's my goal, my wife may tell you otherwise, but that is my goal."
Like most who want to get the word out, Kalili took to the old-fashioned way. "(I used a) cardboard sign with a marker and run around the streets." But that's only the half of it.
Kalili's garage sale was also listed on Bellevue.Bookoo.com. A side-by-side comparison of Bellevue.Bookoo.com with Craigslist.com immediately reveals a difference between the two online sales sites, localization. Bellevue.Bookoo.com is specific to Bellevue, Nebraska.
Another feature is a live, listed yard sale event section. For instance, Wednesday, three sales were listed and for Thursday, four. Then the site provides a map of where to find the sales in the Bellevue area.
Dealing with online Web sites like Bellevue.Bookoo.com, Craigslist.com, Ebay and others like them, Kalili worried about one thing. "Security, you worry about scams, stuff like that."
Bellevue.Booko.com claimed to have a lot less spams and scams and they allow users to flag any items as scams for review. That gives Kalili peace of mind, so he can focus on the end game at his Bellevue home, watching the ballgames in his garage. "Getting rid of some stuff that I don't want to put in the garage because I am going to make this a man cave."
Bellevue.Bookoo.com is free to use, post one picture and up to 10 items. For unlimited posts and pictures, users can pay to use the site on a monthly basis.
The site is also hosting a contest specifically for active duty military members living in Bellevue. The company is giving away one, $1,000 college scholarship.
