If approved by voters, $153 million could be used to renovate buildings within the Lincoln Public School district in 2014.

The Lincoln City Council voted Tuesday night to hold a special election for the issue. The money would go toward making security improvements and infrastructure changes at schools.

Council members say holding the election in February instead of May gives the district time to start those renovations over the summer, rather than having to start in the fall.

Information sessions will be held for parents to learn more about the issue. They're listed below.

Monday, Jan. 6: Lincoln East High, 4-5 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 7: Lincoln North Star High, 4-5 p.m.
