The Omaha Fire Department Thursday released the name of the man whose body was found inside a burning building on Tuesday morning.
An autopsy was performed and he was identified as 40-year-old John Lucas Jr., described as a homeless man. His body was found inside an abandoned structure at 16th and Cuming.
The fire department says preliminary results show the cause of death was from inhaling smoke and other products of combustion, however, it's not an official cause of death until all tests are complete.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
