Body Found, One In Custody

Police removed a man from a home near Central City, Iowa Friday after hours of negotiations that followed the discovery of an apparent homicide victim on a nearby road.

The body of 47-year-old Gregory O'Hare of Cedar Rapids was discovered northwest of Alburnett along the Wapsipinicon River, about 20 miles north of Cedar Rapids. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of O'Hare's death.

Police had received a 911 call about 8:30 a.m. A responding officer found the body in the middle of a road.

A SWAT team was summoned and tear gas used to get 63-year-old Martin Wilkinson out of a nearby house. Officers used a stun gun on Wilkinson to subdue him once he came outside. Police took Wilkinson to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, then arrested him.
