Council Bluffs police are investigating the death of a man whose decomposing body was pulled from the Missouri River Saturday afternoon.

Several boaters called 911 to report the body floating in the river near the Ameristar Casino just before 1 p.m.

Police say the white man with blond hair, a mustache and scruffy beard was between 25 and 40 years old, about 6-feet tall and weighed 220 pounds. He was wearing a St. Joseph University Alumni T-shirt and has tattoos of names on his left and right hands. The body may have been in the water anywhere from seven to 10 days.

The case is being classified as a death investigation, though more should be known after an autopsy on Sunday. Anyone with information that might help identify the body is asked to call Council Bluffs police at 712-328-7867.
