Several law enforcement agencies were involved in the capture of two people in Council Bluffs Friday afternoon. Officers thought the man behind the wheel of a pickup was a wanted fugitive.

Officers approached the truck while it was in the drive-thru of the Burger King at 16th and West Broadway. The driver took off, slamming into a Council Bluffs police car, coming to rest on the hood. Officer R.G. Miller was still inside the cruiser. He was not seriously hurt.

Police arrested the driver, 28-year-old Roger Madsen of Council Bluffs, for attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated assault on a police officer, theft, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and for an outstanding warrant for probation violation. The pickup turned out to be stolen.

Madsen is an acquaintance of the fugitive being sought, Keith Baker, wanted for felony theft charges.

The passenger, 27-year-old Jeffrey Vosler of Council Bluffs, fled the scene on foot, but was captured about three blocks away. He was arrested for eluding and interference with official acts.
