The levee system along the Bluffs side of the river is ready for spring. Back in the summer of 2011 it was tested to the limit.
The "levee blanket" installed to re-enforce the levee is gone, in it's place some of the native grasses have returned.
Many of the trees in the Iowa Riverfront Trail section of the levee have died. The high water mark is evident on the trees that remain standing.
Few of the plants in the area rebounded last spring and summer, more are expected to come back in 2013.
