It was a murder case that shocked everyone. Colby Dandrow was tortured for hours and died after being stabbed, cut and burned in 2007. On Wednesday, the last two suspects were sentenced and Dandow's family is upset.

The emotions come flooding out after the last two defendants were sentenced. Patricia Fay says, "I try not to think about it, but it is always in my nightmares. What he went through, just barbaric."

Dandrow was tortured to death. He was stabbed, cut and burned in an effort to extort money from him and his friends. Judge Patrick Mullen told Joseph Tamayo, “I don’t know how you could do this to another human being.” Mullen then sent Tamayo to prison for life, plus 15 to 20 years.

Leaving the courtroom Tamayo's father was visibly upset. "No comment. No comment."

The second defendant, Brian Daigger, cooperated with authorities and would have testified at Tamayo's trial. He was sentenced to 20 years for attempted robbery. Eligible for parole in 10 years, Daigger could be released as early as 2017.

Colby's father is upset with the deal and sentence, but he is trying to focus on being reunited with his son. "I'm doing all I can to see him again," said Larry Dandrow. "I'm just trying to do what is right."

Now that the trials are over, Colby's family can focus on healing and moving forward.

There were five people initially charged with the Dandrow murder. Joshua Minshall was also given a life sentence. Alissa Parks has served her five-year sentence for being an accessory and charges against William Lieb were dismissed.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine addressed the Dandrows’ concerns about the legal system. "I understand his thought process, his sadness and the emotions, but again we base our charges on what the evidence is and we have two first-degree murder convictions in this case."

Kleine said the evidence and judges’ rulings led to the charges that were filed against the five.
