More than 170 students from the College of Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center helped put a little warmth into the chilly air on Tuesday by cutting, tying and folding blankets to be donated to children in need this winter.
The process to make the blankets is simple: take the fabric, cut it and tie off the edges. But then there is one very special step.
Lauren Deahlquist said, “Then we will fold it up, we will add a tag to it, everybody hugs it kind of in a big group hug, then we will send it off to everyone who we will donate this blankets to."
The goal was to make about 160 blankets. Students from across UNMC and the College of Saint Mary also took part.
