A pilot survived the crash of a small single-engine plane crash in western Iowa Friday. The Cass County Sheriff's Office says plane went down near the Atlantic Municipal Airport.
The plane was a single-engine biplane which is used for spraying agriculture fields. The pilot, 24-year-old Christopher Peeler of Rockport, Missouri, was able to escape the wreckage before it caught fire. He walked away from the scene and was later taken to Cass County Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officials are still investigating what caused the crash.
Shenandoah Flight Service owns the plane. An investigator from the Federal Aviation Administration will inspect the scene Saturday.
