The Omaha Symphony has a program called “Music Mentorz” which allows middle and high school students the opportunity to work side by side with professional musicians. The biggest opportunity came Tuesday for orchestra students at Millard West High School.

The students played with the symphony on stage at the Holland Performing Arts Center.

Millard West sophomore Francisco Garcia said, “Oh, it's really exciting. I've never played here at the Holland, but I've heard people play here and we've been here for fifteen minutes and I'm just loving it already.”

His teacher, Patti Ritchie, offered a similar observation saying, “The hall is world class. The acoustics are phenomenal, and it takes us outside our own small environment in school and puts us out into a community space."
