Each year the Benson Business Association (BBA) presents its Halloween celebration “Benson Boo Bash.” The attendance has grown from a few hundred when it started to over 1,200 people last year.
This year’s event is Saturday, October 27, 2012 – 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Families are asked to check in at the Benson Community Center, 6008 Maple Street. There kids will find small toys and trinkets, snacks, activities, popcorn, games and more. Everything is free.
Following the visit to the community center, Walgreens Pharmacy is offering a free family photo shoot outside the facility. Once the photo is taken, families can go later to the Walgreen’s at 61st & Northwest Radial Highway to pick up a free 4x6 copy.
“We are so pleased that our friends from Walgreen’s are returning,” said Kurt Goetzinger, vice president of the Benson Business Association. “These photographs are becoming a holiday tradition for Benson families.”
The Benson Neighborhood Association is partnering with the BBA on this year’s event. The goal is to bring the neighbors and businesses together. The two rely on each other and Benson residents are loyal patrons of Benson business.
Dr. San Guinary of “Creature Feature” will be available to meet and visit with the children.
Most of the retail establishments along Maple (58th to 63rd) open their doors and give out candy to the trick-or-treating children. Trick-or-Treaters should look for the orange pumpkin sign on businesses’ doors, indicating they are participating in the event. Because of the great numbers, many stores ran out of candy and other treats last year. This year business owners are stocking up in preparation for the flood of costumed children.
