The 17-year-old who was killed in a crash at 204th and Bennington Road Tuesday evening has been identified as Morgan Negley of Bennington.
Witnesses told deputies that Negley ran a stop sign at 204th and Bennington Road. A full-size truck, pulling a trailer, t-boned Negley's Mitshubishi as it came out into the intersection.
Arielle Weiland and her boyfriend, Cody Krusee, were heading north on 204th Street as it happened.
“All I saw was a truck trying to come to a stop. The truck that actually hit her was already in the ditch with the trailer jack-knifed. Her car was just smoking and it was sitting at the corner,” says Weiland.
Weiland and Kruse wanted to help, but soon realized Negley's car was so smashed, there was nothing they could do.
“I felt definitely hopeless, because I couldn't, and nobody else could really help her. We had to wait until emergency services showed up and they did their job good so,” Kruse says.
Negley was pronounced dead at the scene, as well as, her five-month-old Great Dane puppy that was riding in the car.
The driver of the truck, identified as Benjamin Torres-Pizano of Texas, wasn't injured and deputies said he is fully cooperating with the investigation.
Weiland still wants to offer to help the family any way she can.
“It just really hit home. I was turning 21, and she only made it to 17. She had so much left for herself,” Weiland says.
Negley's peers say she was a sweet girl who was getting ready for her senior year of high school.
