A Nebraska company wants to build a $100 million biofuel refinery in Bellevue, but the BioSyn Resources' project is likely still several years away from being a reality.

BioSyn is holding a news conference in Bellevue on Thursday. But
BioSyn still needs to obtain approval from the Environmental Protection Agency and line up more investors. But if the project is built, it could produce roughly 6,500 barrels of fuel per day.

Initially, the company plans to produce biodiesel from a combination of animal fats and vegetable oils. Eventually, BioSyn wants to be able to produce biodiesel or gasoline from switch grass or another renewable crop.

BioSyn's says its plan would employ proven refining technology
in an efficient setup that would allow it to product biofuels cheaper than other companies
