The City of Bellevue is requesting volunteers to help fill sandbags which will be used to help protect some public works infrastructure, reinforce the levees and help keep water off of Highway 370 at Haworth Park.

With the demand for sandbags increasing over the past few days the city is looking for as many people as possible to help fill sandbags. Shifts begin at 7:30am until noon on Friday, July 1, 2011.

If you are available to only work all or part of that shift please email phil.davidson@bellevue.net .

Water and snacks will be provided, but please feel free to bring gloves, and sunscreen.

Volunteers should go to the City Shop on Harlan Lewis Road which is located at 206 Industrial Road, Bellevue NE 68005.

Travel east on Mission Ave in Olde Towne, then turn south on Hancock Street which will turn into Harlan Lewis Road (aka Base Lake Road).

The shops are on the right hand side and feel free to park in the Knights of Columbus parking lot and walk over.
