A woman is under arrest after leading police on a 90-minute chase through Bellevue, Omaha and eventually ending in Council Bluffs.
It began near Highway 75 and Chandler Road in Bellevue around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police were called to the area for a report of an erratic driver. When they arrived, officers found 34-year-old Dawn Marie Scott stopped on the shoulder. When officers pulled up, she allegedly reversed and took the exit.
The pursuit was on, though most of the time Scott drove the speed limit or below and stopped frequently. At one point, speeds reached up to 90 miles per hour on Interstate 80. Every time Scott stopped, officers would try to approach the car, but she would start driving again before they could get to her.
Omaha police got involved when Scott went into southeast Omaha. She started driving the wrong way in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 near 42nd Street. That's when police called the pursuit off.
A Council Bluffs police officer spotted the vehicle, a gold Taurus with no plates, at the truck stop on 24th Street. When officers approached the vehicle, the Scott took off and the chase began again.
A tire on the Taurus blew and Scott was taken into custody around 3 a.m. She will face charges in both Nebraska and Iowa.
