Some of the best high school marching bands in the metro area showed off their skills and hard work Saturday afternoon.
A dozen area marching bands spent the day at Bellevue East High School.
They were competing for top honors in the annual Bellevue East High School Marching Chieftain Invitational.
Bands come to the competition to show the crowd their new shows but it's also about getting feedback from the judges.
Rob Hardin, Bellevue East Band Director says, “All the directors and staff will have the opportunity to speak with the judges before the final performance, and then come out and do it again for yet another set of feedback."
Organizers say the invitational is a bit of a warm-up for a state competition coming up at the end of October.
