For years they may have been sworn at, but Saunders County Hospital board members were never sworn in as the law requires. Saunders County Board of Supervisors made an unusual move to stitch up all actions taken by the hospital board over the years because apparently it was never an official board.
County attorney Scott Tingelhoff told Channel Six News that he discovered the law requires hospital board members be sworn into office. But the hospital board members have never raised their right hands. They will be sworn in by the county clerk within the next two weeks.
Since county supervisors approved all actions taken by the unofficial board yesterday, there shouldn't be any challenges to hospital board decisions on a technicality.
