Law enforcement has stepped up patrols outside a northwest Omaha business. So far it appears there are at least six victims -- just from Monday night alone at 145th & Maple.
Early evening is a busy time for a fitness center. On Monday night, some people who parked in the lot outside Urban Active Fitness at became a target.
"I came out here and saw that one of my cars was one of them," said one victim who didn't want to be identified. Thieves had busted her car window and taken a bag with her computer in it.
Her car was one of among four cars broken into that night. But that's not the worst.
Around 7:30 p.m. in the same parking lot, two women who were walking back to their car were approached by one man and he had a gun. He pointed it at their faces and took their purses. It didn't take long to use one of the credit cards. In a few minutes, he had spent $40 at the nearby gas station.
A few minutes later -- the robber used her credit card at a convenience store at 108th and maple for a $400 purchase. And then $80 at McDonalds.
Reporter: "Did it freak you out when you heard two others had a gun pointed at them?"
Victim: "I was actually disgusted by it. I think it's awful. I can't imagine what those girls were feeling. Of course, my own thoughts of how I would react went off in my own head."
The gym has warned its members of what happened and stressed the importance of keeping valuables out of the cars.
"It happens everywhere though so I want to be cautious and it definitely made me think of what I leave in the car when I go to the gym."
As we were there -- we spotted a Nebraska State Patrol trooper driving through the parking lot looking for the armed robber.
Detectives are also going over security tape from the club and surrounding businesses to find the thief or thieves.
The armed robber was described as a six-foot tall, 250 lbs, and in his late 20's.
