Argument Over Feeding Stray Cats Leads To Felony Assault Charge

A Lincoln man is accused of using his truck to hit another man who was feeding stray cats.

Police Capt. Jim Davidsaver says 44-year-old Anthony Whitney stopped his truck around 4 p.m. Wednesday on North 1st Street between Q and R and argued with a 46-year-old man about feeding the cats. The other man told police he regularly feeds strays there.

Capt. Davidsaver says Whitney then drove his truck forward and hit the other man, knocking him down. His injuries were not serious.

Whitney was later arrested at a nearby recycling business on suspicion of felony assault. He denied that his truck hit the man. A Lancaster County jailer said Whitney remained in custody on Thursday.
