A controversial development plan is taking shape in west Omaha. It calls for an apartment complex to be built in the area of 192nd and Leavenworth.
Nearby homeowners turned out Tuesday to speak against the project. They argued that because they live outside city limits, they have no representation on the city council.
Judy Bodewitz was among those expressing concern and she said, “They listened. They did spend time listening but I don't think they heard us and because we're nobody to them, we didn't vote any of them in, it wasn't as important to them as it was to us."
After more than two hours of discussion the city council approved the plans despite the objections of the people who will have to live in the neighborhood.
