American Legion Baseball rededicated a plaque at an Omaha field Sunday, honoring 40 amateur players and veterans killed in combat.
Coach John Stella said it seemed like the right thing to do this 4th of July weekend. "We have to honor the veterans because if we didn't have the veterans we wouldn't be playing baseball. We'd be training to fight overseas someplace. We have to honor the veterans. We can't forget the veterans, we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them.”
The ceremony took place at 16th and U streets.
