An alligator and a boa constrictor have been found at separate Fremont homes. The animals were found Wednesday during police searches after a tip was received.
The alligator was less than four-feet long and was found in a basement. Officers also found a loaded gun, marijuana and other drug items. Three small children lived at the residence.
Twenty-seven-year-old Matthew Morris of Fremont was cited for possession of a prohibited/wild dangerous animal, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and possession of a handgun.
Twenty-two-year-old Melissa Morris of Fremont was cited on the animal and drug charges along with child abuse and neglect.
The alligator was turned over to the Dodge County Humane Society.
The snake was found inside an apartment. Its owner was cited for possession of a dangerous animal.
