An Omaha man tried using police officers to get around a protection order granted to his estranged wife.
Officers responded to the man’s call for help on Saturday, November 24th. When they arrived at his home he told them it had been 27 days since he last saw his children and he was worried about them. The children are living with their mother at an undisclosed location.
The 39-year-old father asked officers to take him to see his children or bring them to him so he could spend some time with them. The man told officers there was no protection order against him but that his wife was living with another man and he feared for the children’s safety.
Officers checked court records and discovered that there was a protection order against the man and that it included his wife and their children. Also, the 28-year-old wife had called police earlier that day to report a threatening voice mail from her husband.
At that point, according to the report, that Dylan Bain requested a “well being” check on the children but officers instead cited him for violating a protection order by contacting his wife and trying to use Omaha Police Officers to circumvent the court order.
