Separate accidents in Omaha sent two motorists to the hospital Friday morning.
Police say alcohol and speed were factors in the first crash at 1:10 a.m. near North 72nd Street and Western Avenue. A northbound car was hit by a passing car going too fast. Both vehicles then struck a brick retaining wall.
Eighteen-year-old Christopher Recinos of Omaha was treated at Alegent Creighton Medical Center for a cut to his head. He was cited for DUI, being a minor in possession of alcohol and willful, reckless driving. The other driver was not hurt.
Police believe alcohol and driving too fast for road conditions are to blame in the other crash at Northwest Radial Highway and Grant Street around 2:40 a.m. Twenty-four-year-old Adam Gehringer of Papillion was heading southbound when he lost control, hit a light pole and was briefly pinned in the wreck. He was later taken to Alegent Creighton Medical Center with serious head injuries. Charges are pending.
