A chance encounter over Christmas put the wheels in motion for a relationship that’s now 12-years old and growing. It’s the story of love, faith and a little bit of skin care.
Mother Brown has been playing keyboard for as long as she can remember – mostly in church. The keyboard provides the soundtrack for her life that’s been filled with sharp focus.
“Nothing but religious work,” she said. “I've worked in the church for most of my life."
Her husband was a pastor. She has outlived him and four of her five children.
She said, “I only have one daughter left. She is in her 70s."
She has 14 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 88 great-great grandchildren and 11 great-great-great grandchildren.
“We're just carrying it on," said Mother Brown who turned 100-years-old this month.
Anne Bourlier came into the picture 12-years-ago when she decided to adopt-a-senior for the holidays through the Salvation Army. She got Mother Brown.
Anne said, “I went into it thinking I could teach my children how they could help at Christmas and how to not be so self-centered and help others. But she has given back to us ten-fold."
Mother Brown says the key to longevity is righteous living.
“My heart goes out to people who are suffering - those that I don't know and those that I do know," she said.
It's given Anne a closer bond with her faith that provides her the key, "to be true to yourself."
“And prayer, honey,” added Mother Brown. “That's where I fight my fight. I don't fight with my fists. I fight looking up to the man; the maker. I pray my way out and cry my way out."
In a way, Mother Brown's family has grown through Anne's. A teachable moment for her children turned into something permanent.

By the way, Mother Brown, who lives on her own, has one other secret aside from righteous living: Oil of Olay. That's how she keeps her skin young. Her story has received more than 40,000 Likes on Oil of Olay's Facebook page.
