A Plattsmouth woman was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon at University of Nebraska Medical Center with injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening.
The Cassgram reports 58-year-old Vicki Brundieck was a passenger on the motorcycle operated by 59-year-old Russell Schneider of Plattsmouth, said Saunders County Deputy Sheriff Eric Hummel. Hummel gave the following account of the accident to Cassgram:
The motorcycle was westbound on Highway 6 and had just crossed the Platte River Bridge. Traffic slowed and the motorcycle slowed accordingly but then the bike went out of control and slid on the pavement.
According to witness accounts and the sheriff’s department investigation, speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident. Helmets were worn by both.
Brundieck was transported to UNMC by LifeNet helicopter. Hummel said Schneider refused rescue squad transport but suffered abrasions to his left side.
The Nebraska State Patrol and Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department assisted Saunders County with traffic control on both sides of the accident scene.
