An Omaha man was cited for 23 counts of cruelty to animals Thursday after humane society officers found the animals crowded into one area of his home.

Officers confiscated 21 ferrets after they received an anonymous tip about David Berlowitz. When they arrived at his home they smelled a strong odor and found the ferrets in unsanitary conditions.

Officers also confiscated two cockatiels, one guinea pig, and one green iguana. Berlowitz was cited in February on separate cruelty charges.
