A wrong lane driver causes anxious moments near the opening festival for a youth baseball tournament in LaVista.
Hundreds of children and their parents attending the Slumpbusters event were witnesses to a drunk driving arrest.
LaVista Police Chief Bob Lausten tells Channel Six News the driver of a Corvette drove south on the northbound lanes on the street the runs between the baseball diamonds just south of Harrison. The street was lined with parked cars on both sides and the driver apparently became impatient.
LaVista officers stopped the Corvette at a crosswalk between the fields. Lausten said the driver was arrested for drunk driving after testing .221 or nearly three times the legal limit for blood alcohol content.
Chief Lausten said the arresting officers received the first cheers of the tournament.
