Authorities say no one was injured when a small plane with three people on board made a belly landing at the Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City.
Officials say the twin-engine Piper Cheyenne, with a pilot and two passengers, made an emergency landing at 8 a.m. Tuesday after a problem with its landing gear.
A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration says the plane originated in Sheldon, IA and was headed to Omaha when a warning light indicated a problem.
According to the Sheldon Mail-Sun newspaper, the passengers of the plane were Clayton and Deb Korver of Orange City, Iowa.
John Backer is the operations manager for the Sioux Gateway Aiport. He says the pilot contacted the airport and did an "excellent" job of landing on the runway. He says there were sparks and smoke but no fire.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
