Governor Tours Flooded Areas

Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman was back in the skies Wednesday taking another aerial tour of flood damaged parts of the state.

Gov. Heineman and other state officials say it's too early to proclaim an end to severe flooding because of forecasts calling for possibly heavy rain over the next few days.

Officials also said the bulging Platte and Missouri rivers could threaten areas near Plattsmouth and points south in coming days as water is dumped into them.

Officials are assessing damage to infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, and will start assessing damage to private property next week.

Al Berndt, assistant state emergency management director, says
that in Holt County alone, roughly 30 bridges are damaged and that officials in Stanton County told him 75 miles of roads were severely damaged.
