Omaha police were unable to find a teenager seen walking towards the Nebraska Medical Center campus Friday morning with what appeared to be a gun tucked into his waistband.
OPD first received a call that he was walking near 44th and Dodge around 10 a.m. NMC spokesman Paul Baltes said the hospital's security team responded quickly.
Employees and patients in the Clarkson Doctor's Building North Tower were asked to stay in place while the search continued. It ended a few minutes before noon.
OPD Sgt. Steven Martinez said officers and campus security were unable to locate the suspect. They believe he ran away before the entire perimeter was established.
"It was a very good search,” said Sgt. Martinez. “We cleared everything that we could. The party is not here. He probably escaped on foot before we conducted the search, but everything went well."
