Health cost for employees in 2010 was not much different than the discussions held in any of the last few years for Cass County Commissioners.
Cassgram reports that commissioners are considering having employees pay part of their own monthly insurance premium.
The increase is again attributable to a high loss ratio (92%) as the insurer looks at the last year of claims, said NP Dodge Company insurance broker Shane Jacobsen.
After over an hour of discussion, commissioners voted 4-0 to re-up with United Healthcare. To bring the cost down, Jacobsen said there was some tweaking and negotiating between NP Dodge and United that involved an increase in co-pays for ’10-11.
If the county and its taxpayers absorb the full premium, the increase with the revised plan will amount to 17%; if there is a per month contribution by employees, the increase would be about 9% for the county.
