Web site in the works

A | A | A

There's a Web site in the works that's promising to inform Nebraskans about the dollars and cents of state economics. It's the brainchild of the state treasurer's office.

Information will include state expenditures, revenues, budgets and average local property tax.

State Treasurer Shane Osborne says he hopes to have the site up and running by next year.

Nebraskans are invited to offer suggestions about what information to include. You can voice your opinion by clicking here.

I would like to see where all of it goes. But I will bet anyone dollars to doughnuts that not all information will be published. I grew up in a community in Iowa, where the city published a couple times a year where all the tax money was going, even down to the Teacher's Salary's. That will never happen here, too much palm greasing going on to admit. When are the people of Nebraska, or Omaha going to say enough is enough with the taxes. We rank up with some of the top 10 largest cities in regards to taxes, so where is all that money going?
