Severe weather is threatening parts of the heartland again. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for portions of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa, including the Omaha metro area, until 10 p.m.

Tornadoes, hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter, dangerous lightning and thunderstorm wind
gusts to 80 mph are possible in these areas.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for atornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
