It must have looked like something out of a Mission Impossible movie. Thieves cut a hole in the roof of a prescription drug warehouse and made off with tens of millions of dollars worth of drugs.
The FBI has been called in to investigate the theft early Sunday at the Eli Lilly warehouse in Enfield, a northern Connecticut city that borders Massachusetts.
The exact number and type of drugs are still being established, but authorities say they included powerful painkillers.
Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza says the thieves disabled the security system and loaded pallets of drugs into a waiting vehicle.
A spokesman for Eli Lilly did not immediately return a call seeking comment Tuesday.
