A Solon, Iowa, woman will be arraigned next week in Florida on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of her newborn.

That's according to court records.

Eighteen-year-old Ashley Truitt is accused of killing her newborn baby while vacationing in Pompano Beach, Florida with her family.

Police say that Truitt gave birth to a girl in a hotel bathroom on June 2nd.

She then threw the child down a trash chute, killing her.

Truitt had not disclosed her pregnancy.

Truitt pleaded not guilty soon after a Broward County, Florida, grand jury returned the indictment against her last week.

Truitt faces a mandatory life sentence under Florida law if convicted.
