More than two dozen nonprofits and schools in the Omaha area will share $280,000 in grants from the Pacific Life Insurance Company's foundation.
Pacific Life, which employs about 275 people in Omaha, announced the grants on Monday. The grants range in size from $1,500 up to $50,000.
The biggest grant of $50,000 is going to the Omaha Zoo
Foundation to support the new butterfly and insect pavilion.
The Omaha Performing Arts Society will receive $35,000 to help purchase an advanced sound system for the Holland Center concert hall.
Live Well Omaha will receive $10,000 to help promote healthy lifestyles.
Several of the smaller grants of $1,500 are going to area schools, including Omaha's Burke High and Elkhorn Ridge Middle School.
