Bobbi Thompson isn’t getting cold feet but the bride-to-be is nervous about her wedding and reception booked at the now closed Ironwood Country Club in Omaha.
Bobbi said, “I’m not even excited. I’m actually sad about my wedding because I don’t think it’s going to be what I dreamed it would be or put money toward.”
First National Bank put Ironwood at 132nd and Pacific on the auction block. A surprise buyer bought the country club and locked it up.
Bobbi and her fiancé’ Nathan Hanna put down $1,000 but had been unable to reach Ironwood management.
Six On Your Side located Ironwood’s general manager Chris Bancroft in a barrowed office. Bancroft said, “We would have contacted them immediately. The problem is when the new owners purchased it on Friday they came up and changed the locks.” Bancroft said country club records are on computer in the clubhouse but he can’t get in to retrieve information.
However Ironwood does have a refund for Bobbi Thompson and three other couples who put down deposits.
Bancroft is also contacting other reception hall managers to help out the couples who had booked Ironwood.
About the deposit refund coming her way Bobbi said, “That’s better than not having any money but now I have money and no place for a wedding and reception so it’s bitter sweet."
An attorney for the new owner of Ironwood told Six On Your Side its unlikely the clubhouse will be available for receptions.
Jim Buser said possibly next week Ironwood staff and members will be allowed inside to collect personal belongings and records.
