A fire destroyed a mobile home in Murray Thursday afternoon.
Murray Volunteer Fire and Rescue was paged at 2:30pm to 620 West Main. Mutual aid calls were answered by Plattsmouth and Nehawka units.
Flames engulfed the structure located just north of Highway 1 and south of the Young Park baseball field.
A radio dispatch around 4pm said the fire was mostly out but firefighters continued to battle hot spots through the evening. Murray units began returning to the station about 8:30pm.
The residence and its contents were a total loss. The Red Cross assisted the Steve and Pam Harris family.
A Nebraska State Fire Marshal Office investigator was on scene. Murray Fire Chief Jim Daly said the preliminary investigation indicates the fire may have started around the water heater.
