Nebraska Republican Congressman Adrian Smith has returned from a trip that included stops as several Middle East countries.
The House representative for Nebraska's vast 3rd District left for the tour on Jan. 1 and returned Sunday, following a 30-hour delay on the return flight because of mechanical problems.
Smith says he visited Egypt, Israel and Turkey with a bipartisan House delegation led by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Democrat from Florida.
Smith says the U.S. delegation's main objective was to encourage parties with interest in the Middle East peace process "to come to the table."
Smith says nearly everyone the delegation encountered during the tour expressed concern about Iran's nuclear program
