Beatrice Police announced Tuesday they’ve busted a burglary ring, arresting three men and confiscating more than 20 stolen rifles, pistols and ammunition.
Officers raided a Beatrice residence last Friday, finding weapons and other items that had been stolen from four different homes. The three under arrest are 23-year-old Willy Chanmynarath, 19-year-old Justin Brown and 18-year-old Corde Honea.
In addition to the weapons, police say they also recovered other stolen merchandise. Several more guns are still unaccounted for.
Police and the Gage County Sheriff's Department are offering a 72-hour amnesty to get stolen weapons off the streets. Anyone in the Beatrice area who has gotten a too-good-to-be-true deal on a gun has until noon Christmas Day to turn in the weapons and avoid prosecution.
"If you have a gun related to these crimes, you can turn that into the Beatrice Police Department or Gage County Sheriff's Office by noon on Christmas Day and you will not be charged with possession of those stolen firearms,” said Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang.
