Five communities in Cass County contract for a greater presence of law enforcement in their communities.
The Cassgram reports that Cass County Sheriff Bill Brueggemann describes it as a “pro-active” approach to law enforcement by providing a higher visibility of patrol units.
He notes the contracts allow time for deputies to set up radar, watch for stop sign violations and the authority to enforce most city/village ordinances for such things as parking issues and curfew.
The most notable exception to code enforcement is that the sheriff’s department does not deal with most animal control issues.
