State road crews worked in shifts around the clock to keep Highway 75 and Highway 50 open throughout the storm. The intense drifting closed east-west Highway 1 and Highway 50 for several hours Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
If a snow-packed road forces you to abandon your vehicle, the sheriff’s department and the roads department say it is wise to let them know because it is possible they may be able to coordinate the recovery of the vehicle when roads crews get to the road and help you avoid a tow truck charge. It also makes snow removal more efficient, saving tax dollars, they say.
