Mystery Needs Answers

Two urns still undefined and the public’s help is being sought.

The Cassgram reports the urns (with contents) were found on a picnic table in Eagle in June of 2007 with the names “William and Madeline Kay” engraved on them. The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is trying to find any family members of the couple: William A. Kay 1912-1992 and Madeline T. Kay 1917-1996

Both death certificates were issued in Douglas County. Both memorial services were handled by the same Omaha mortuary. Further investigation indicated that a woman who identified herself only as “Kendra” had called the funeral home in 2007 and told them that she found the Kay’s urns in the trunk of an old car. Kendra is believed to be from the Lincoln area.

Sheriff William Brueggemann speculated the urns may have been stolen in 2007 from either a family member or a cemetery.

Brueggemann said, “It is my hope, with the assistance of the public, to find the proper resting place for both William and Madeline Kay”.
