    Arrested Monday

A former teacher who was charged last week for allegedly having sex with a student was arrested on Monday. Authorities say that 24-year-old Brandy Reynolds began a relationship with a male student when he was 15-years-old.

A warrant charges Reynolds with first-degree sexual assault, a Class II felony punishable by one to 50 years in prison. She's accused of having multiple encounters involving sexual penetration with the boy between December 2004 and May 2006, according to an affidavit filed in Dodge County Court.

Fremont detective Joyce Henke has said the boy, now 17, was a student at Omaha Baptist Academy, where Reynolds taught. She said the assaults occurred in Reynolds' apartment in Fremont and one other location described only as non-residential.

A complaint was filed with police April 28, after the boy's family members contacted the state Health and Human Services System. The boy, who was 15 when the alleged sexual relationship began, is from the Fremont area, Henke said.

Omaha Baptist Academy, which has about 30 students, is affiliated with Westwood Heights Baptist Church. A school official said Reynolds was an elementary teacher at the school from 2004 to 2006. She did not teach there this past academic year.

It is illegal in Nebraska for a person 19 or older to have sexual contact with a person under 16.

If any of you are really friends and truly concerned for either of them or their families, and if you know them as well as you say you do,....don't you think that you should keep their business quiet? Don't you read your Bible? Show your support with prayers, not gossip, judgement, and your personal opinions. If they are repentant and forgiven....why is it your place to say anything? He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her...John 8:7b

Do you suppose the parents of this boy let him watch anything on TV that might have SEX in it? Do you think that this boy might have even been having SEX with some girl his own age? Do you think that in this day and age, kids are doing things like this daily (having SEX) and that this teacher got caught up in something (wrongly doing so) and maybe wasn't meaning for it to go that far? Can you say you've never done anything wrong? I do not condone this, but I will also not blame. No one knows what happened, except these two people. At 15, he knew what was going on! It's a crazy world out there. Yes, something should be done, but not life in prison. We'll let someone off for killing while driving drunk time and time again, killing babies, but someone who has SEX with a 15 year old you want to put away for life!! Let's think about this and make some sense out of it.

i think everybody should mind there own business and take care of your own problems before getting involved with other peoples this is a matter for the law to decide nobody elses

Michele: Legal consent, no your right but consent none the less. He was not forced or seduced. He willingly chose to meet her on several occasions, not just one. And he never tried in any way to stop her. He was never one of her students so she had no direct power over him. Yes I agree this should never happen anywhere to anyone. But we also need to realize this hurts many people not just the victim. How about the husband of the accused and the families of those involved on both sides. Please don't get me wrong, I don't condone this in anyway shape or form. But my friend does bear some of this as well.

Karl - The kid NOW is 17, when this happened he was considerably younger and unable to give his consent. Whether it's a man or a woman, this kind of behavior should never be tolorated and I hope for society's sake she spends enough time in prison to think about the life she's ruined.

Karl: He did give his consent even though it was still wrong of her to take advantage of the situation. He knew what he was doing was wrong but did it anyway. And no I'm not guessing. I know both the victim and the accused.

I am not condoning these actions in any way...but here we are charging 12 year olds as adults for murder, yet so quick to defend a 15 year old for having sex? I believe that parents are completely oblivious to just what their children are involved in...and just because it is a private school, why is it so much more serious? I watched these activities day in and out in the public school system, and yeah it's wrong, mainly for the fact that they are teachers, but people make decisions, both the teacher and the student. Life in prison is extreme. If it's an age thing, then why is okay for a 16 year old to have a relationship like this with a 24 year old, or a 40 year old with a 32 year old...or "back in the day" when older men married younger women. just looking at different perspectives..but I can see both sides. As for "Bill"..I believe a female teacher was just sentenced to 30 years. Men are more likely to be involved in more aggressive relationships. And heaven forbid a man gets unfair treatment. Welcome to a woman's daily life. Welcome to a minority's daily life.

Since the kid was 15, can it really be called "taken advantage of"? At that age, the child was probably sexually active. I admit, it was very wrong that the teacher did something like that, but the boy should take some responsibility for having let her do it in the first place.

That is just sick! Our kids are suppose to trust authority figures like teachers and then something like this happens. She has no excuse for her behavior. I agree that she should spend the rest of her life in prison.

If this was a man he would get 10 years ! She is a woman, maybe 2 years probation ! WATCH !!

Concerned parent, the rest of her life in prison? If he had been a year older and given his consent what would you say then? It's wrong! very wrong for an adult to take advantage of these young students but life in prison? Wow, in some way's I think you’re just as dangerous as her. Let's not waste a life for someone having sex. Gee..

What is wrong with these teachers thinking they can have sex with their students and not get caught?! Our kids are being told at a young age what sexual assault is. This teacher is a danger to society and should spend the rest of her life in prison. No excuse for these behaviors!!! Shame on her and the advantage she took of this boy and the school for that matter.
