Former state Senator Chris Beutler edged Lincoln City Councilman Ken Svoboda in Tuesday's election for mayor of Lincoln.
The race was close. Beutler had approximately 50.6 percent of the vote while Svoboda had 48.9 percent.
In unofficial results, the two were separated by fewer than 1,000 votes. Beutler, a Democrat, had 24,803 votes; the Republican Svoboda got 23,958 votes.
James Bryan Wilson got 12 votes, and 240 people voted for a write-in candidate.
Coleen Seng announced last fall that she would not seek a second term as mayor.
Voter turnout was 32 percent. About 49,300 of the city's 154,000 registered voters cast ballots.
